New e-book by Robert Powell to be published in July 2021: Active whole-class teaching 2
With a foreword by Tim Brighouse.
In the introduction, Robert sets out the case for the 7 evidence-based principles for teaching, learning and assessment, principles which can be adopted or amended for school policy if leaders choose.
He then explains how active whole-class teaching techniques can be used to engage and stimulate learners while meeting the need for challenge and rigour.

The chapters that follow explore each of the 7 principles with practical examples of strategies that can be used to deliver each principle.

The 157 strategies are in a menu format, allowing teachers to select those that meet their needs in terms of age of students, subject or topic being taught, and the personal preferences of individuals.

Students enjoy variety of experience in lessons and each of the strategies is designed to encourage participation and deep learning.
